Seven stories including The Lazy Automobile, Fire Engine That Grew Too Old, The Plane That Tried To Fly To The Sun, The Hungry Power Shovel and The Runaway Elevator. There were several editions of this very popular book two of which appear below.
COPY 1 Edition of 1941. Remarkable condition with original dust wrapper, though with a small piece from the wrapper lower roght and three small closed tears. Now in protective cover. Interior Fine and bright. This is the original and not the Paul Pinson 1950 later version. A beautiful copy of the book, apparently never out of its just jacket. FINE! Dust Jacket with 4 closed tears and two small chips. Very rare, perhaps unique, in this condition. Inventory 7334 Price $375.00
COPY 2: The First edition: 1931 124 pages. Some scratching to the cover illustration and bottom corner of the cover has been bent. Interior has numerous closed page tears, most near the spine. COPY 1: The covers of this copy are edge worn and the right bottom corner bent back slightly. Spine and are worn, image on cover scraped. Browning to the pages and foxing on the flyleaf and title page. There is child scribbling on only one page: at the top of the image, "Big man of Muldare. " Numerous repairs within to the bottoms of pages near the spine, the stress points for unpracticed small and enthusiastic hands. The page containing the illustration, "Stanley's run away again," is half gone. A facsimile of the original illustration is included however. A fair copy only. Inventory # 7522 Price $150
