This gallery is an experiment. We believe that there is a legitimate market for original art by working illustrators and we are attempting to reach the individuals with those interests. Please consider joining us

.Frank Wallace, Director
§Illustrators are invited to submit their work to Childscapes Art Gallery for consideration
§If selected, artists select from 4 to 8 original works which have appeared in picture books and which they are prepared to sell.
§Participants send scans of these pieces along with titles, dimensions, name of book in which the image appears and a price for each piece
§Participants agree not to offer at other venues, works they have listed at Childscapes.. If a work is sold independently the particpant notifies Childscapes so that the work can be removed or replaced with another.
§Childscapes adds 20% to the price set by the participant as its sales commission.
§Childscapes creates a page at its site to show the illustrator’s work
§The illustrator is added to the hyper-link gallery list .
§Childscapes adds meta-tags to the artist's page so that search engines will find the site when the participant’s name is entered.
§Childscapes accepts all credit cards through PayPal which supplies its “shopping carts” When a work is purchased, Childscapes forwards the participant’s original asking price (less bank transfer charges, if relevant) to the participant who ships the artwork at his or her expense to the buyer.
§If you have questions, we will do our best to provide answers. E-mail us

Submitting Work: We are happy to consider the portfolio of any published illustrator. Please tell us of the books you have illustrated and forward scans (jpegs) from those books of images which are in your possession and which you would like to offer for sale in the Childscapes Gallery. We will respond to you quickly with a decision. Not all picture book art is equally good as hung art and not all hung art is equally good for a child's room. We select artists whose work we believe will fit well at this site. A decision not to show your art, should such a decision be made, says nothing of its quality, but merely of its appropriateness at this venue. Send resume and images.

Search Engines A person interested in a particular illustrator and choosing to use the Internet for his/her researches will enter that artist's name into a search engine. The search engine (Yahoo, Google, Alta Vista for example) will show all relevant web sites. The goal of a site like this one is to appear on the first page of a search. 90% of the artists whose original works are shown at Childscapes have top billing on Yahoo and Google, the two major search engines. You may demonstrate this for yourself by going to Yahoo or Google and typing in the name of one of our artists. The list of artists appears on the gallery page. You can do that now at: http://www.google.com/

If you are selected as a Childscapes Gallery artist it will take up to 3 months for the search engines to "spider" this site and for your name to appear in a search. That is not something over which we have control.
