This first edition set is the most perfect we have come across. It was lovingly inscribed to J. Paul Austin Jr. at age 10 by his grandmother on each of the title pages. Additionally his name was stamped at the bottom of each cover in gold, matching the titles. In the whole 6 volumes there are only 5 pages with any damage: In Volume II pages 189-192 have been taped where torn. The tape is much aged and browned. Likewise in Volume I the title page has been taped. There are no pencil or crayon marks, no tears, no soiling anywhere else in the set. The cover illustration of Volume II shows a scrape.
