Seven stories including The Lazy Automobile, Fire Engine That Grew Too Old, The Plane That Tried To Fly To The Sun, The Hungry Power Shovel and The Runaway Elevator This is the original and not the Paul Pinson 1950 later version.

A compendium of the picture books published by Rand McNally in the 20s including Rimskittle's Book, The Peter Patter Book, Once Upon a Time, The Real Mother Goose and On The Road to Make Believe. All the major illustrators of the time are present, including Milo Winter, Uldine Trippe and Ruth Eger. A full page illustration on every other page.Extremely rare in any condition.

COPY 1: This is a serious collector's book.! Aside from some rubbing to the spine ends and corners, in beautiful shape. Inventory 7470 Price $400.00

COPY 2: Slight rubbing to the cover illustration. 6 page tears near gutter all repaired with invisible tape. Bump to spine bottom. Browning of page edges. No markings. A Very Good copy.Inventory # 7654 $250.00

COPY 3: Corner bumping and edge wear. There is some board showing, mainly bottom corners. Some rubbing of boards. Text binding is tight, illustrations remain sharp. 16 pages have been professionally repaired with invisible tape (closed tears) Pg.27 has chip on bottom of the page. Pg. 81 tape repaired less professionally. Typical soiling by enchanted but nonethe less grubby fingers. Fore-edge dampstaining 1/4 inch. Some shadowing of hinges. A good copy and yet quite rare. Large 4to. 12 inches. Chicago: Rand McNally, 1929. Maroon cloth hardback with paste-on. First edition. About 106 pages, though un-numbered. Various short poems by Leroy F. Jackson and illustrated by Caroline Ruth Eger.Cover Illustration by Milo Winter. This is one of the most elusive of 1920's children's books. In short, rare. A very good copy is extremely rare. Like the first volume of the Bookhouse series, Rimskittle was 'much loved' by the youngsters who owned it. NOTE: The cover shownto the right is from Copy #4 of those listed below.

COPY 1: The covers of this copy are edge worn and the right bottom corner bent back slightly. Spine and are worn, image on cover scraped. Browning to the pages and foxing on the flyleaf and title page. There is child scribbling on only one page: at the top of the image, "Big man of Muldare. " Numerous repairs within to the bottoms of pages near the spine, the stress points for unpracticed small and enthusiastic hands. The page containing the illustration, "Stanley's run away again," is half gone. A facsimile of the original illustration is included however. A fair copy only. Inventory # 7522 Price $150
