| Michael Hague was born in Los Angeles in 1948 and attributes much of his interest in romantic fantasy to his fascination with the comic strip, Prince Valiant, while growing up. After graduating from the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design, he moved to Kansas City where he spent two years working for Hallmark Cards. He then moved to Colorado Springs to work for the Current Company, desiging greeting cards and calendars. He gained prominence with the publication of his illustrated version of Wind in the Willows in 1980 and since then has illustrated a large number of children's books, most of these published by Henry Holt and Company. The selection of artwork offered here represents many fine examples of his early work published before 1980. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
