About Giclee Printing

Giclee (jhee-clay) from the French to spray or to squirt defines a means to digitaly print on various substrates with archival inks at high quality. Giclees are produced using a high end ink jet printer utilizing 7 ink cartridges, where the resolution is such that they appear continuous tone to the viewer.

Giclee printing is typically limited to editions of original fine art prints sold at galleries for the simple reason that it is a very expensive process. The result, however, is very different from mass produced prints and posters, much more brilliant and rich in tones depending of course upon the original being reproduced. It is not unlike Pochoir printing of the sort done for the works of Guy Arnoux.

Each print is made to order. If you would like a different size from that offered at this site, please e-mail us with your request and we will be happy to accommodate.

We use UltraChrome ink from Epson which is very stable, giving fade & color shift resistance of over 70 years on the high quality watercolor paper we use and under average indoor light conditions. Visit www.Wilhelm-Research.com for more information.
